Falling Film 4-Effect Evaporator/Concentrator, manufactured by APV, previously running depectinized fruit juice at rate of 170 GPM-in at 3-4 brix, 20 GPM-out at 70 brix on apple and pear (90,000 pounds per hour in, 15,500 pounds per hour out). Steam consumption of 16,000 pounds per hour at 125 PSI. Tower water running 1,650 GPM at 50 deg F. Includes matched capacity UHT (Ultra High Temperature) pasteurizer for Patulin control. Effects consist of 1A/1B, 2, 3A/3B, 4A, 4B. Temperatures in Effect 1A were in the 210-218 deg. F range and for Effect 4B were in the145F-160 deg. F range. Effects 1, 2 & 3 have wide gap plates and effect 4 has narrow gap plates. Installed system with plate heat exchangers, tanks, pumps, and controls. Plates are gasketed (gasket material should be nitrile rubber) 4-Effect is coupled with thermal vapor compression. Vapors are cooled in a barometric leg with tower water flowing at high rates through a spray device. Primarily 304 stainless steel construction.
